A letter from “Shelly” Rachelle Shannon

Hi friends,

The Lord bless you and keep you in His Peace.

You’re indulging in one of the things I and some others here really know we are missing out on — the Internet! It’s easy to take so much for granted. I miss some really simple things, like being able to go barefoot.

God brought me through a lot the last four years. Now here I am, still alive on the planet earth (though not always sure that’s a good thing!). More and more I understand how our lives here are like a planted grain of wheat, striving for the real Life ahead of us. Not that we want the death experience, but don’t you long for Eternity sometimes? I sure am ready ….

Prayer and Action News prints excerpts from my diary that I keep now, so if you want to know about the crazy things that go on here, you can read it in P& A. Their address is:

137 E. Leach Ave. Des Moines, IA 50315

They print a lot of Pro-life news and other things of interest to Christians.

Despite it all, I still know it is right, not wrong, to save lives, even by drastic means. The government is not against the use of force. They have more powerful weapons than anyone. They just don’t like us to use force to save lives (proper use of force), when they are using force for wrong reasons, sometimes even killing innocent people.

I have some really great friends here. I guess I’ve adjusted to this place, though I’m not sure that that’s good either. Last week I had a short trip out, and found the new surroundings frightening.

I ‘d love to hear from you. I especially enjoy letters from people who talk about normal life, their kids, fishing, anything normal. I hear a lot of good reports from picketers and rescuers too.

I really don’t expect to survive my prison time. It’s extremely stressful. My friends and I do what we can to make life better here. We especially feel sorry for the young ladies who have a lot of time to serve. This is a horrible place to spend their years growing in. I’ve learned how to picks locks while here, and quite a lot of other things that I never wanted to know. The young people are not learning anything good here.

If you write, please let me know if you’re read this letter. Thanks.

God bless you.

Love,
Shelley
