Memo for the record:
This morning we had a scheduled picket of the office of Alan Braid in the Methodist Plaza Building at 4499 Medical Drive. The picket was the fifth consecutive weekly, Thursday, picket of Braid since he perforated the uterus of a young lady at Reproductive Service. Braid works delivering live babies at Methodist Hospital in his OB practice and at the same time destroys unborn children at the abortion clinic where he has killed unborn children for the past seven years.
This morning’s picket was quite uneventful until 9 a.m. when we were ready to quit. As we started to leave two San Antonio police cars arrived, blocking the pathway of Jim Locander who was on the opposite corner of the intersection from Methodist Plaza. He was the only person on that corner although picketers occupied every other corner of the intersection, as well. Jim had a set of the graphic signs that depict bloody aborted children.
The police officers took Jim’s signs away from him and without any discussion they placed him in handcuffs. By the time I was able to cross the two streets to get there he was already arrested and tucked away and two more police cars had arrived. I overheard one of the officers say that the arrest was ordered by City Hall. I asked the Sergeant who arrested him what Jim was charged with. He responded Disorderly Conduct.
I asked the Sergeant for a card with his name and badge number. He thenprovided it. He is Sgt. Bobby Lambert, #3229.
Jim was whisked away to the drunk tank in the Frank Wing Building where he was processed and released after several hours.
This exhibition of terroristic police activity was reminiscent of Nazi Germany. It could have had only one purpose: to intimidate the prolifers into stopping their picketing activities. This was a chilling of the citizens God-given right of FREE SPEECH enunciated in the First Amendment of the United States Constitution.
WE WILL BE AT THE CORNER AGAIN TOMORROW WITH THE SAME SIGNS!
